Singapore has one of the busiest ports in the world. Our port handles 130,000 vessels and 32.6 million containers annually1, with maritime activities contributing 7% of GDP and employing over 170,000 people. The aim is to grow the industry by S$4.5 billion and create more than 5,000 jobs by 2025.
There are over 5,000 maritime companies in Singapore, including more than 130 international shipping groups2. They form an important anchor for our position as a hub for maritime activities. To sustain high standards of quality and on-time delivery in SMEs, Enterprise Singapore works to sharpen their competitive edge and supports them in new product development projects. We work with partner agencies such as EDB, to focus efforts on helping companies to acquire capabilities and tap into global networks.
